Interpretation of necropsy results:

The most significant findings in relation to cause of death are those of metastatic hemangiosarcoma of the mesentery, liver and diaphragm.  There was a large volume of blood in both the abdominal and chest cavities, which was likely the immediate  cause of death.  The masses are presumed to be metastatic lesions as Dylan was previously diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma in his spleen, which was removed surgically and biopsied.

There was moderate to severe spondylosis involving the spine from T4-S1, with mild disc protrusion at T12-13, T13-L1, L1-2, and L4-5.  There was also mild to moderate DJD of the stifles and shoulders.

The pathologist did not include findings of cataracts on the report, but did check it off on the checklist.  There was no evidence of disease of the digestive system, endocrine system, cardiovascular system, immune system, skin, or neurological system.
